The Thousand Hands Outreach is an expression of altruism  and an integral part of Zen Buddhist tradition. Our Outreach Programs offer an opportunity to put into practice the compassionate teaching of Zen and apply them to where they matter most, daily life.

Generosity and compassion are fundamental Buddhist practices which enable us to open our hearts to include those in need. We created the Sangha Assistance Program as a part of our 1000 Hands Outreach in order to provide assistance in time of need to the members and associates of Soshimsa Zen Center. The Sangha Assistance Program is a support group committed to helping individuals in the sangha in times of need. Assistance in the form of physical help in your undertaking is available for qualified individuals. The Sangha Assistance Program also offers volunteer opportunities for our members. If you are interested in volunteering or want to request Sangha Assistance please contact the Zen Center at 908 377-9803 or the Director of 1000 Hands Outreach at duhksongsunim@soshimsa.org

and the life of the candle will not be shortened.

Happiness never decreases by being shared.”
